This cross-section is taken through the office/research section of the building and clearly shows the siting of the building at the top of the slope, with the seating stepping down to the stage at the bottom.  The seating would not necesarily be fully constucted in this way, but could simply be a more natural shaping of the slope into seating levels, maybe with large boulders, and people could sit on the boulders or the grass.  The tallest section of the building is the main/public section, and at the far end is the forestry lab.  Outside the lab is a covered porch, which would be used by the lab for placement of materials before bringing them indoors for study.
