The south elevation is likely the drawing that best describes our building. The tree in front is an existing white pine that we wanted to keep and use as a focal point for the conservation centre. The entry is directly to the right of the tree under a pergola, and is directly on axis with the road to the conservation centre. Large overhangs protect the almost entirely glazed south facade from the summer sun, and are supported by wooden columns which we designed in a tree-like form. The four sections of the building are clearly visible in the elevation. Starting at the left are the offices and library, to the right of that is the bathroom/locker section with its own (secondary) entrance, then there is the largest and highest section which houses the café and exhibition space, and lastly the lecture hall.
