Cornwallis St. & Townsend St.
Watercolour, 7" X 10"
This painting was done
while sitting on the lawn in front of the beautiful St. John's Church in
Lunenburg. While we were there, the church bells began to ring, beautifully
playing numerous familiar songs. We later learned that the bells
are played daily at about 2 pm. A better name for the painting is
perhaps 'Olive House'. This painting shows a fairly typical brightly
coloured Lunenburg house, and is cut by those power lines that are ever-present
in the town. St. John's Church is one of several churches in the
town, but St. John's was the first and is a beautiful 'carpenter gothic'
building.
