Mount Pleasant from Rissers Beach, N.S.
Watercolour, 7" X 9"

Rissers Beach is located about 50 minutes west of Lunenburg in Rissers Beach Provincial Park.  There are two ways to get to Rissers Beach from Lunenburg.  The long way is to drive north to the only nearby bridge over the Lahave River, in Bridgewater, N.S., and then south to the beach.  The other way is to take a cable ferry across the river, and this option cuts travelling time almost in half.  This is the route we took on the way home, with our two cars full of students.  This was one of our first painting days, and I chose a view of a hill (which I was told is known as Mt Pleasant) to the west of the beach that was covered with a bright green carpet of grass.  Of course we also went swimming, but the water was none to warm!
