Assignment 1: Pavillion Structures research assignment
The class will form four groups and each group will do research on
pavillion architecture of one of the four categories listed below:
Group 1. Reinforced Concrete structures (thin shells and beamed structures
as well)
Group 2. Steel and cast iron and glass structures.
Group 3. Tensile Cablenet supported fabric structures.
Group 4. Air supported fabric and metal roof surface structures.
* The research shall consist of two parts: part one shall
be a general over view of what kind of structures have been built
in the particular material and method your group was
assigned,and, part two, an evaluation of the suitability of these materials
and methods for use on our specific building site.
*Every group shall make a physical model that explains
the structural principleunderlying thier choosen structural system
The presentation of the research shall be in the form of a powerpoint
presentation. The model can be made out of any appropriate materials.
