The Islamic manuscripts are of three types: Arabic, Persian and Turkish.

The Arabic manuscripts are comprised of around thirty-three codices, of which most are Qurans. In addition, there is a collection of over two hundred pieces of calligraphy.

The Persian codices are primarily that of poetry with about a hundred separate leaves containing miniature paintings.

There is a much smaller collection of Turkish and Malay manuscripts, mainly historical in nature.
