| This is the entrance lobby of and addition to the Cranbrook institute of science. The facade is composed of different kinds of glass. Each type of glass interacts with the light differently causing the transmitted light to create surprising and interesting patterns of the interior of the lobby. Here Steven Holl has treated the architecture almost as an art installation. It takes advantage of the natural phenomenon of light of the diverse properties of glass to animate and elevate the visual interest of the lobby. | |||||||||||||||
