BACKPACKERS HOSTEL (2003)

The design of a backpackers hostel near downtown Sydney, Australia, within a dense urban setting and across from Woolloomooloo Bay.
Investigation of the site began with its connections with the city, its primary axes and traces of history. Links to the city, both physical and visual, were important in developing an open, yet introverted gathering place for travelers -- the play of public versus private.
