The closer I get into the ritual of death, the more i feel interested in designing funeral homes. My research and my design analysis bring me toward the design of an urban funeral complex and a spatial representation of death, being both

Interactive: reciprocally active; acting upon or influencing each other
And Interblend: mingle (things) together; blend with each other.

The urban funeral complex will address death not only at the scale of a single body but also at the scale of the city: the notion of body at several scales. Making emphasize onto the importance of a community instead of embracing the individualism (principle of being independent and self-reliant) really merging from our contemporary culture. The evolution of our society and its multiculturalism bring new cultural issues about religion, beliefs, ideology, symbolic tradition and ethnic tradition. The complexity of the changes makes us realise the importance of rituals and the place it takes in our everyday life. We need to challenge ourselves and respond to it in a new fashion. The complex will intensify the ritual around death with a procession (sequence) of spaces and events, like a story, instead of a one place to be. This highlight will not only be tangible and physical but will also respond to the multicultural of the community by a strong spiritual respond instead of accenting the religious symbols or aspects of a particular religion. Also, giving new tools to celebrate the ritual in a society lacking of religious beliefs. The inside of the complex with the outside landscape will be closely intertwined and will not only be for the immediate persons involved with the complex but also for the population of the city. The population will not only be an observers but will also be able to experiment and use some of the different spaces of the complex to really engage the population with the physical environment of the site and the spiritual essence of the building. It will bring back the real essence of the ritual of death that faces the capitalist industry of the funeral home in the 21st century.
