Propaganda and Publicity
The Art of convincing

Propaganda is politicized publicity. Both phenomenon are directed toward the masses in order to induce specific behaviours. Various formats have been worked out to suit different public spaces. Advertising is part of the public realm. A special emphasis is put on transportation: metro, highways, and main arteries. In the Soviet context propaganda boats and trains traveled from city to city in order to establish a link between transportation, technology and revolution.

In both propaganda and publicity three way exist to convince: the promise of a better future, fear, and the sense of duty. In any case strong colors are used and the message is bold in order to attract the targeted public’s attention.
