The bridge is a highly frequented transportation axis. the part of the building directed toward it needs to be as visible as possible. The façade on the boulevard is a very public elements that one has to “read” rapidly. How can the building become a spontaneous stage or tribune when nedded? How can this be conciliated with its mission of shelterinf refugee journalists? The building has to reflect in some way the activities of its changing hosts. To what extend can actual billboards and screens be used? More or less formal gathering spaces are important in the process of generating and exchanging opinions. Some technical functions could gain meaning by being showcased. Could a separated “showcase building” be located on the opposite street corner? Do the spaces where the information is actually processed need to be sheltered deep into the building? One can gain privacy by being similar to all its neighbours. The access to the roof is necessarily more restricted to the inmates even thought it is highly visible. The room is the most intimate space where one can meditate and recover.
