Defining peoples' paths: In the San Marcuola projects as well as in the Design Competition and Porous Zone, the circulation paths of users became an important issue, if not the main planning principle. In the Competition the central circulation core directly dictates the positions of the rooms. The shape of the building derives from the circulation pattern. Similarly, the Porous Zone's landscaped has a form that directly relates to the network of streets and pedestrian passages crossing it. Since buildings are meant for human beings, the form should be linked to the way they use the surrounding.
