procession
This roots the work in the place where it exists. My own work attempts to do the same, pulling in tension a larger space than it presumably inhabits. By decentralizing the form, as learned from Tatlin’s earlier work, such as Corner Relief, a declaration is made that the core is not at the centre, but rather the space functions to support and define the work. This denial of the point of origin and decentralization demands movement of the observer in order to discern the relationships between the parts of the sculpture and the space. As in Tatlin’s Corner Relief, by reversing the pattern and reorganizing the visual data one’s experience of the work produces a heightened sense of awareness of the specific situation the work, and consequently the viewer, inhabits .

The position of the winery should embody the same sensibilities in relation to its surroundings. The procession (the implied movement) should reveal (both physically and psychologically) the experience of a moment – moment passage through space and time that uncovers not only the character of the site, but also a greater orientation of the viewer within the outer world.
