Building Considerations.

There are many external elements that can influence a buildings design from lighting and weather to regional planning restrictions and guidelines. Here is an exaple of the significance of wind and air movement in design.

These images show how a buildings design can affect not only its own conditions but those of the spaces and buildings within the area. We can see the creation of turbulent air zones in the first image which may result in structural strain, of poor weather conditions at these hot spots. The second shows how a buildings height and shape can affect the immedite area, the unsheltered areas tend to be where snow and waste accumulate and can cause access of health problems. The third image shows how landscape conditions cna be taken into considration during design for optimum building proformance and minimum impact.

This building is an example of design responding to climactic considerations, the building is located in Abu Dhabi and maximizes its natural ventilation by acting as a chimney stack where air gets trapped into and rises through the internal space and cools and ventilates the building in the process.
