The old Aréna Mont-Royal site
Mont-Royal between Clarke and St-Urbain

 - Programme would use the north-west half of site
- Close to Parc Mont-Royal, Métro Mont-Royal, bike 
   paths, popular pedestrian shopping streets, and 
   even vehicles
- Opportunity to help revitalise neighbourhood
- Visible from du Parc and Mont-Royal intersection
- Access to sun (SW, W, and NW exposure)
- Access by transit, bike, foot, St-Laurent, St-Urbain, 
   du Parc, and Mont Royal
 

Neighbourhood:

   Plateau Mont-Royal
     - Mont-Royal is a vibrant street
     - Active Cultural/Restaurant/Retail district
     - Close to Parc Mont-Royal
     - Métro Mont-Royal in vacinity
     - Area could become too yuppie
 

The site should ideally address the following:

   - solar orientation and access to light
       (North East street corner)
   - urban infill
   - neighbourhood density
   - proximity to public transit (i.e. Métro)
   - proximity to complementary businesses
   - opportunity to repair urban fabric
   - urban challenges
       circulation (pedestrian, bike, and automobiles)
       local street life
       sense of place (quality without a name)
   - historical elements
   - opportunity to incorporate and recycle existing
      building/structure into a  larger project
   - business/commercial location
   - local pollution (noise, air, street, industry...)
   - local phenomena
   - neighbourhood of mid-rise development
   - access to cultural activities
   - access to a selection of cafés and restaurants
   - neighbourhood reputation
   - appropriate size for programme
   - prevailing wind/air current
