A threat supposedly exists: “the library is likely to join the increasing register of non-places sandwiched between lauderette and motorway.” (p.12, Brawne)

The library must be on exactly that site that is accessible.  It is an escape, but must not be merely chanced upon down some lonely alley.  Within is the escape, without is the convenience of the everyday; perchance this lies between the ‘lauderette and motorway’.  This is the intention behind site selection.
