These drawings by Lawrence Halprin show his Overhoff Fountain through time and event. The plan shows the water patterns given different climatic conditions. Wind and humidity are the most obvious controls, however the fountain's hardware can be adjusted at will. Despite a given set of parameters it is impossible none the less to predict the true outcome of the pattern. The plan, or view from above, it just one of the points of reference. One can imagine many options dependent on the viewing angle from the ground as well.
