| below is the questionnaire i sent out to students and graduates of the school of architecture. it was sent out in order for me to get an idea (apart from my own) of how they feel about their environment at mcgill, the facilities it offers, as well as some general thoughts about the curriculum. |

1. i am a presently in ........... year. 2. what are your thoughts on drafting by hand vs. computer? do you think drafting tables will become obsolete, or will there always be a place for them in the school of architecture? 3. how often do you use the blackader library? do you think you would use it more often if it was closer to the school? (think of the physical sciences library.) 4. what do (did) you think of the facilities in the school? (think of the computer and photo labs, studios, workshops, crit rooms... or anything else that comes to mind.) 5. if i could improve the school, i would ............................... (feel free to name as many things as possible - it can relate to the facilities, curriculum, etc...) 6. have there been any courses that you think have been "useless" ( i use the term loosely) vs. others that helped you a lot and that you're glad you took? (these can be electives as well, but limited to architectural ones.) 7. because the school of architecture is part of the faculty of engineering, we have a more formal training in the sciences rather than in the arts. what are your feelings about that? (i.e. do you think there should be more of a balance between creative & conceptual vs. science? 8. have you gone on an exchange while at mcgill or studied elsewhere before your studies here? has that experience been beneficial to you? 9. have you ever gone to the 4th floor? if so, how many times? i ask that because i am curious to know whether you think there should be more interaction between the schools of architecture and urban planning? 10. if you're a graduate, can you think of anything your education lacked? how prepared were you to enter the "real" world? |
