section VI - campus layout
on the main campus grounds, no new buildings are authorized, except for underground constructions. the extension in land coverage of buildings existing on march 16, 1995 may, however, be authorized provided they meet the criteria in this section.
all projects relating to the main campus must be approved in accordance with section III of the by-law concerning the procedure for the approval of construction, alteration or occupancy projects, and concerning the commission jacques-viger, based on the following criteria:
- preservation of the morphological features of the main campus;
- preservation of the architectural unity that covering materials, particularly stone, clear glass and copper, confer to the campus;
- the preservation of the importance of vegetation in the development and design of spaces;
- the contribution of the building and exterior landscape to the enclosure of green space on the main campus;
- the contribution to the quality of treatment of all building facades;
- the enhancement of buildings shown on plan 4 entitled batiments a mettre en valeur;
- the enhancement of views onto the campus and mount royal;
- the integration into the urban landscape perceptible from mount royal;
- the
building line of a construction, an extension or an addition to an existing facade plane must tend to meet the following building lines:
- where a proposed building is next to a building, the facade of the proposed building must be in the extension of the benchmark facade plane, which is the facade plane of the adjacent building that represents tha largest area;
- where benchmark facade planes are parallel to each other, the facade of a proposed building must be parallel to the benchmark facade planes and be at mid distance between their extensions.
