The TKTS 2000 Project:
A slick blob at Time Square
This flowing structure is an attempt to represent a sense of movement in the space. This visually complex form is counterbalanced by the solid and simple elevations. The ameba like structure is assembled by prefabricated stainless steel and sandblasted glass units. Each unit is almost identical and relates to the function of the interior as well as the exterior. The prefabricated modules create a dialogue between the customer and the personnel. That is, as the personnel will be comfortably seated, the unit comprises the computer screen, the cash drawer and a mini printer from where tickets are ejected. All units are linked and therefor all modified computer information directly appear to all screens of the structures, interiorly and exteriorly.
The awnings swing open when the TKTS booth is open revealing the personnel's booth. The interior of the space will be light by artificial as well as natural light entering the sandblasted glass in the office area as well as in the lounge.
