RAMAT BET-SHEMESH GOVERNMENT FUNDED PROJECT

This housing complex was designed for a community of ultra orthodox Jews. These 7 buildings each have a capacity to house 15 families. Each unit has has a separate entrance, creating a sense of separation and privacy. Each structure is built around a central courtyard that are connected to one another with bridges. This shared central area creates a strong sense of community.

The interior plan of the units are very well designed for the specific community that it was built for. That is, the small surface area has been carefully planned to allow the space to be maximized.
Firstly, taking into account that Ultra-orthodox families tend to grow to a large number, all units had a possibility of expansion in the future. The small kitchen is connected to the the living room by sliding doors, allowing for the living room to be part of the kitchen. the living room itself can close on all sides to have a prayer room. The entrance to the unit is separated from the kitchen and rooms to ensure privacy for the woman.
The design of the kitchen also follow the specifics of a kosher kitchen.
