The first conversation I had that sparked a passion for this research was with a lady that I happen to start speaking to me and started complaining about the poor design of her small Jerusalem apartment.Through this conversation I was made aware of many areas for design improvement as well as some simple spiritual concepts in design that lead to a healthy environment.

An Exploration of a Spiritual housing unit
The beginning of the thesis development represented a great opportunity for the exploration of different housing concepts that would put together a stable and healthy community. These housing units will be designed from specific derivation and interpretation of Jewish laws.
The Building Blocks of a Community
Housing, is one of the most basic needs for sustain. The thesis will concentrate on the important aspects of housing that will suite a certain type of community. That is, it will be the building block of the way of life led by the people designed for. I will focus on the design of a cluster of houses that will be part of a growing community.
The Site

The site is an integral part of the project. And is the main reason for it. Located almost at mod point between the cities of Hebron and Jerusalem, the chosen site is a small and growing settlement called Bat Ayin, born in 1989. Many of the community members still live in the original prefabricated caravans and are in need for adequate housing. Many similar settlements have been developed recently, where a developer enters the land and builds a series of carbon copy units and simply fills out the housing demand
