PRECEDENCE
Courtyard Houses

The courtyard house is a relevant precedence because it is the origin of the Jewish house.  In biblical times all Jews lived in such houses. This form is still present in some Middle Eastern countries.  For example, Jewish homes to this present day in Iraq, Iran, Yemen, Tunisia, Morocco,  Egypt and so on are examples of courtyard houses.   (As for the Jews went to live in Europe, they abandon this form of dwelling.)

In the middle ages writing of Responsa, the word to describe house in is used as Court a clear indication that this was the Jewish form of dwelling. Today in Israel, there are very few examples of the use of courtyard houses, or variations of it.  The use of a variation of different courtyard houses can be very a good type of housing for the climate and life style.  Courtyard houses ensures a well ventilated and well shadowed environment and can make many activities, that would otherwise be indoor, performed in the open air.
