des Beaux Arts update... and an interesting revelation about the
planning of such as institution that managed to delightfully incorporate
the concept of a campus-like community atmosphere into the confines of
its tight site and urban domain. Perhaps the development of an internal
community by means of massing and communal spaces contributes to this "campus-ness"
as much as the rural prototype that is typically associated with the model
implemented by Thomas Jefferson at the University of Virginia. Furthermore,
the Ecole illuminates the potential of artist's residue [plaster casts
etc.] as justification for providing wider corridors, exhibition courtyards
and the dust-covered remnants of completed once-works-in-progess.
They went as far to include a glass covered courtyard (see thumbnail above)
for such residue...

Prof.) at the McGill University School of Architecture in Montreal, Quebec.
It is a requirement for the course Design
Research and Methodology and a foundation for the design of a thesis
project synthesizing the exploration of a particular architectural premise.
The information presented in this site essentially elaborates the basis
for exploration, and indulges both the practical and abstract directions
