In Hinduism and Buddhism, salvation is also related to otherworldliness, but in a more conceptual way — Moksa, or enlightenment, is a state of being outside the preconceived notions of the everyday world. In these traditions, as with Christianity, more devout people would seek salvation by renouncing the physical world. In Buddhism, there was a radical way for monks and nuns to reach moksa by meditating and fasting until they died. |
