Electronic Arts, a entertainment  software company opened its canadian headquarters in Vancouver last year. The 20,000 square-meter complex, designed by Musson Cattel Mackey Partnership, has,   in addition of the offices, meeting rooms,computer workshops and a 1,300, square-meter motion capture studio, a indoor basketball court, a fitness center with steam rooms, a arcade room and a 65 seat Big Picture theatre.

    All this is part of a plan to attract and maintain the attention of a mobile, highly skilled workforce. EA's vice president confirms that it has been easier to recruit the best talent with a building worth showing off. And in the end it proves to be more productive: in fact more employees have been working longer hours more comfortably and the quality of life has gone up.

It is probably a solution to a problem known in Québec as the "exode des cerveaux": we have very talented people here but they very often go to work in the United States...
