In its first apparition the cross inundates the participant with its pure light, it is an active player in the scene, moving as the sun moves. This pure form also acts as a threshold, leading to the next development.
It is in this second room that the static symbol of the cross is found. This manifestation has the participant walk beside the symbol which is diluted by the light streaming in from the three windows opposite. It is also distracted from by the yellow colour of the far wall (see section below) and the enhanced perspective of the room. The red that stains the wall in this second room represents the blood shed through the years by Armenians, in the name of religion.
As one approaches the third and final room the symbol takes on a shape which is indiscernible. It acts more like a cage rather than a symbol. It is in this final room that everything, without exception, is bathed in a red light. There is no longer clear symbols & storiesm instead there are hints that there were stories there, there are memories that should be remembered, what they are is unclear.
As one leaves this promenade & climbs higher on the mountain, one remembers their own experience within it, but looking back it is impossible to discern these interior experiences from this rather uniform building. It is with this last look that the participant discovers that what was pristine & clear in the approach, is now simply a collection of memories: imperfect & evolved.
