sketchbook musings: immigrants

St. Laurent as the tree trunk (or funnel) from which the early immigrants branched out from - they all went up and through St. Laurent.
I looked at several books on Ellis Island as well as some books talking about the Canadian Immigrant Experience.  The images from the Ellis Island books were particularly moving - they were black and white and were stark, brutal and real.

Then I started to follow the idea of the tower as a lighthouse/light beacon from which the 'immigrants' or anyone nowadays can be directed towards to - to my event plaza. So that leads to the next thread: lighthouse, light beacon and tori amos.
